- Yule is likely a reference to Odin, a popular god of Germanic and Norse mythology.
- Yule is a winter solstice festival often associated with Odin.
- Odin is typically depicted as an old man in a cloak and hat with a beard who is missing an eye and carries a spear, just like Yule.
- Odin is commonly associated with two ravens, while Yule has a black bird familiar of his own.
- Yule might also be connected to the Yule Cat of Icelandic folklore, a large and ferocious feline that roams the snowy countryside and eats people who have not received new clothing before Christmas Eve.
- Wherever he appears, Yule's coat changes color, alternating between red, green and blue.
- Yule is one of five Castle Cats heroes who is missing an eye; the others are Redmane, Wetbeard, Agatha and Ratchet.
