Trivia[]
- Oakenbeard might have been made from a staff of Murrlin and a tuft of Oakenpaw's fur, or from a staff that had been made from one of Oakenpaw's branches and that belonged to Murrlin.
- His line, "Murrlin used to like me," supports one of these interpretations.
- Alternatively, he might have been a product of a magical staff made from one of Oakenpaw's branches, and a tuft of Murrlin's fur.
- If a "piece" of each cat—as opposed to items owned by each cat—are the necessary ingredients for Purrcilla's original spell, then this second possibility might make more sense.
- Oakenbeard's name and the Ent Egg from which he hatches might be references to the Ent named Treebeard from J.R.R. Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings.
