- Khoshek was the Instagram winner of the June 2017 Design a Castle Cat contest[1], designed by @Contenebratio (original concept).
- The artist was inspired by their own cat, also named Khoshek.[2]
- Khoshek was also inspired by the cat Khoshekh from the podcast Welcome to Night Vale[2], described as a cat floating and unable to move from his place in the men's bathroom of the Community Radio Station.
- Khoshek's eye is most likely a reference to the tradition among the podcast's fandom of adding extra eyes to the main characters in fan art.
- Khoshek's line, "Bill Cipher? Never heard of him!", mentions the main villain of Gravity Falls, Bill Cipher.
