- Dio was the leader of the Grape Clan, which supplied Catania with -Grape Juice-, implied to be a euphemism for wine.
- Dio sounds like a shortening of Dionysus.
- Dio might also be a reference to Dio Brando from the manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
- The two characters share the same name.
- In the Anniversary 2019 Quest Dio is seen stopping time, an ability that Dio obtains in the third part of the anime and manga.
